2023-2024 Cohort

EMMAUS FELLOWS

Emmaus Fellows are second-year fellows based in the greater Boston area. This cohort is focused on capacity building. Fellows either continue work in their first year site placements, building on the initiatives started and relationships built in year one, or they pursue a new site placement, which enables them to broaden their skill set. Emmaus Fellows work at non-profit organizations and churches, focused on social and structural change. In addition to site work, Emmaus Fellows serve in a programmatic leadership role with Life Together and live in intentional community.

Sam osakue

Hi, my name is Sam Osakue (He/Him) and I’m happy to be back to Life Together for another year. I was originally born in New Jersey before years later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. My parents were originally from Nigeria before moving to the States. I graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Georgia State University. I recently converted and became confirmed into the Episcopal Church last year and found out about this program from my young adult leader in my church. I look forward to being "Life Together" because of the opportunity to take part in and better understand the Anglican faith, as well as helping others that can help me in my future. When I am not busy, I like to work out, either by running, the gym, or breaking a sweat in VR (Virtual Realty). I also enjoy watching movies, watching tv, reading audiobooks, playing video games, and Board Games and attending sports events

Margaret walker

My name is Margaret Walker, and I am excited to return to Life Together for a second year! I grew up in Minneapolis, and I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota with majors in Anthropology and Spanish Studies as well as a minor in Family and Community Engagement. I am passionate about the power of education and learning to empower individuals and communities, and have previous experience doing youth work in the Twin Cities. My site placement is with The Family Van, which allows me to do a combination of direct service on their mobile health clinic, community outreach, and communications. I am looking forward to deepening my work in the Boston area and exploring spirituality, community, and social change together with the new cohort of fellows. I love spending time outdoors, reading, and baking, and I have over 14 years of experience as a tap dancer!

MICAH FELLOWS

Micah Fellows are first-year fellows based in the greater Boston area. This cohort is focused on training leaders who want to pursue a career in ministry or non-profit management. Micah Fellows work at non-profit organizations and churches, focused on social and structural change. During their year with Life Together, Micah Fellows: work for social justice, grow as leaders, and live in community with other fellows. In addition to working four days a week, these fellows will participate in about eight hours a week of leadership training and spiritual reflection, and they live in community with one another.

Olivia Stanley

Hey there! My name is Olivia Stanley (she/her) and I’m a 2023 graduate from The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. I’m thrilled to join Life Together and serve Church of Our Savior in Milton. My time at Sewanee was shaped by my experience as a young adult Episcopalian and interacting with like minded individuals. I felt called to join the Episcopal Service Corps to keep discerning my role in the church in a setting unlike the cushion of the one I was confirmed in. Not to say that I am testing my faith, but I am rather trying to make sense of what Episcopal ministry looks like outside of college. I’m a proud Kentuckian that loves a good front porch, live music, tattoos, and I’m excited to plant roots in Boston.

Hazel-grace Strong

Hi! I’m Hazel-Grace Strong. I'm a 24 year old non-binary person and use they/them pronouns. I'm from the small town of Kismet, Kansas and a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville majoring in Theology and Catechesis. I'm a recent convert to the Episcopal Church and I'm informally discerning priesthood! I consider myself more of an introvert, but I enjoy a good conversion with friends over tea and coffee. You can often find me baking, reading, playing a video game or watching Drag race (the Rupaul kind, not the race car). I have a passion for academic theology, in particular the Franciscan Intellectual Tradition and Classical Anglican Thought. I am thankful for the opportunity to be growing, serving and loving this community. Until we meet, Pax et Bonum (Peace and Goodness).

Nalitza Valentin

Hi, my name is Nalitza Valentin (she/hers) and I'm super excited to be joining Life Together. I graduated in 2019 with a Bachelors in Literature and a minor in Philosophy. Since then, I've been in various educational roles from paraprofessional to teacher to most recently a youth coordinator. I'm happy to continue to play a role in youth lives while I'm in Life Together with my placements at IBA (Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción). I enjoy reading, writing, dancing, working out and conversations about philosophy, theology, books and social change.
